Fallout 4 since the 1.5.307.0 version does not allow we get the achievements with mods and this is irritating to many people, after all, that had not happened in previous games of this franchise.
The purpose of this tutorial is teach you how to be able to play the game with mods and still get the achievements.
Before starting the tutorial, I would like to inform three important points:
- This tutorial is valid only for computers, it is unfortunately not compatible with the Xbox One and PS4.
- The 22.214.171.124 version was used for making this tutorial. If you are reading this the tutorial at a later date, it could be that the tutorial is not valid, so stay tuned.
- This tutorial clears the tag [Modded] of your save, so if you already have a game with this tag, this tutorial will "clean it" and you can get the achievements from that point forward.
All set? So let's start.
Fallout 4 Script Extender (F4SE)
The Fallout 4 Script Extender, or F4SE for short, is a modder’s resource that expands the scripting capabilities of Fallout 4. It does so without modifying the executable files on disk, so there aren’t any permanent side effects.
The F4SE program will be required for performing this tutorial.
As described on their website, they support only the most current version available via Steam. You will need to perform the download of this tool on the official website of this software. To do this, open this link and click on the 7z archive link, in line within the current version, as in the image below.
With the aid of a program that extracts files such as WinRAR or 7-Zip, extract all the content of this file into the folder that you installed Fallout 4. By default, the directory is the one shown below:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\Common\Fallout 4
Important: Note that the file has always a folder such as f4se_0_02_04. You must open the folder within the compressed file and extract the contents of this folder within the Fallout 4 folder, as in the example below:
If everything was done correctly, you will see the f4se loader.exe file in the same folder Fallout4.exe file, as you can see in the image below:
From this moment on, whenever you run the game, do it by f4se_loader and not by Steam. If necessary, generate a shortcut to play it for easy access.
Remember to add the F4SE page in your favorites, because every new version of the game, you must also manually update the F4SE. Note that it takes a few days until the release since the patch to the F4SE be upgraded.
Now we have the F4SE, we'll need to install a mod called Achievements, created by modder Expired6978. There are two ways to install the mods, doing manual installation and making the automatic installation via Nexus Mods. In this tutorial we will only approach the Nexus Mods.
If you are reading this tutorial, it is very likely that you already use the site in question, if this is the case, visit this link, log in to your account and make the automatic installation via NMM.
For those who do not know the Nexus Mods, first of all you need to create an account for that click in this link, click in the "Register now!" option, in the next page, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the Create Account button without selecting any paid package, then fill in the registration fields, complete the registration and then activate your email.
Then, enter in this page, click on the download button. Perform installation of the program and allow it to locate the games on your computer. If more than one game is found, select the Fallout 4. Then click on the user icon at the bottom of the screen and enter your newly created account. Keep the program open.
After that, open this link, make sure that you entered in your account (1) and then click on the Download (NMM) (2) button, as you can see in the image below.
Your browser will likely announce that the site want to open a program, allow this to be done so that the download will start automatically.
In the list of mods, just press the right button on the mod Achievements and activate it. Note that it does not appear in the list of mods, because it is an addon of F4SE. In addition to playing the game from the shortcut you created, you can also run the game directly from the Nexus Mod Manager by clicking the launcher selection icon (1) and then choosing Launch F4SE (2), as the image below:
Note that my save that has mods, in the first save with this mod already turned off the tag as you can see in the image below.
And all this is not for lack of mods...
I believe that's it, thank you for viewing this tutorial! Be sure to see our tutorial with all the Achievements of Fallout 4 in this link.
