The Sims is the first game of this genre. Released on February 28, 2000, The Sims uses a combination of graphic techniques in 3D and 2D. The Sims are rendered as 3D objects, but the house and all its objects are pre-rendered and are shown symmetrically. In 2002, the game has become the best-selling computer game of all time.

The game's artificial intelligence is very advanced, and the Sims will respond to external conditions for themselves, though often the intervention of the player is required for them to keep on the right track. The Sims technically has unlimited value to play again, since there is no way to win the game, and you can play forever, as your Sims will have children and die, following the cycle of life.
